Performance Art created a work of art inspired by Wassily Kandinsky's circles. There was a hidden puzzle challenge with their paintings and the group had to put their artwork into a mural.First grade struck a pose to design their own self portraits in the style of artist Keith Haring. Then used pattern to fill the negative space in their images.Second and Third experimented with collage with a mixed media piece. Starting with a butterfly monoprint the students then got to create an environment for their butterflies using collage. Then they used marker to add more details to their images. We looked at artist Charley Harper for inspiration.Fourth and Fifth got into the art of portraiture while drawing expressive self portraits that they have started coloring in the style of artist, Roy Lichtenstein.Sixth Grade has been on a roll, recently finishing ink blot monoprints that they then added patterning over with sharpie!

7/8th finished their analogous color one point perspective pieces, which they hung around the stairwell. They also began planning their self designed color wheel projects.6th grade is working on hand drawn Mandalas that show a story with elements of nature, layers, pattern, rhythm, contrast, and more!4/5th has been learning about Primary Colors, Secondary Colors, and how to create value while creating what they have dubbed "Bulb Art".2/3rd finished their Hand Portraits using warm and cool colors in a pattern and have started learning about how to make pictures using shapes! They started with a Tangram challenge, now they are using artist Charley Harper as inspiration.1st finished a unit about color! They learned about color blocks, color fields, and Abstract Expressionism with artists Mark Rothko and Jasper Johns.Performance Art is learning about the Caves of Lascaux in France. Focusing on how the artists told stories and how the artists in the past used tools from nature. We took a day to collect items from nature that we will be trying in our very own "cave". |
