7/8th finished their analogous color one point perspective pieces, which they hung around the stairwell. They also began planning their self designed color wheel projects.6th grade is working on hand drawn Mandalas that show a story with elements of nature, layers, pattern, rhythm, contrast, and more!4/5th has been learning about Primary Colors, Secondary Colors, and how to create value while creating what they have dubbed "Bulb Art".2/3rd finished their Hand Portraits using warm and cool colors in a pattern and have started learning about how to make pictures using shapes! They started with a Tangram challenge, now they are using artist Charley Harper as inspiration.1st finished a unit about color! They learned about color blocks, color fields, and Abstract Expressionism with artists Mark Rothko and Jasper Johns.Performance Art is learning about the Caves of Lascaux in France. Focusing on how the artists told stories and how the artists in the past used tools from nature. We took a day to collect items from nature that we will be trying in our very own "cave".

The 2016/2017 school year has started quickly! In Art we dove right in and started learning about colors, artists, and more! Check out the pictures below to see some of the work so far. Thanks, Miss Lindsay First and Second/Third graders finished "Color Block Names", using the letters of their names to create abstract works of art. Fourth/Fifth grade are working diligently on "Op Art Initials", creating optical illusions with their initials and complementary colors. Sixth graders completed "Kandinsky Inspired Names", using the letters of their names to create abstract black and white images that show balance, repetition, and rhythm. Seventh/Eighth grade created "Radial Symmetry Names" while learning how to make transfers and how to identify analogous colors. Performance Art students made books, designed characters, and began illustrating stories in their books.
